COSMETIC TATTOO AFTERCARE
You have a new cosmetic tattoo and you're nearly to the other side of sweat proof, care-free, natural looking yet tattooed make up! But first I need you to spend a few days babying your procedure. Please keep all skin care or cosmetic products off your tattoo for a minimum of 7 days with the exception of the products I supply you with.
Using a cotton ball or cotton pad add 1-2 pumps of Sailor Soap and using slow gentle circular motions, until the skin feels clean (if it still feels kind of slimy, keep going - typically just brows do this). Once you feel your skin is sufficiently clean, pat dry with paper towel. Avoid using bath towels as they are not always fresh or lint-free. Apply a small amount of Saint Salve provided to you, it should be thin or be able to absorb quickly. Saint Salve it is a preservative free natural product, sometimes it needs to be warmed up in your fingers before applying.
Repeat the wash with soap, pat dry with paper towel, apply balm twice a day for 7 days and continue using balm for up to 3 weeks. During any scabby or itchy phases feel free to use salve/ointment with clean hands as often as needed. Just make sure the skin also has time to breath as the oxygen is also good for it.
One exception is with lips, you can discontinue soap after your lips fully peel(usually about day 5), but continue using ointment for as long as needed and feel free to switch to chapstick or use other make up products after the 7 days.
DO NOT PICK PULL OR PEEL EVER! Even if you feel it looks silly, it's temporary- if you pick any skin off your tattoo it is very likely you will pull pigment out that hasn't healed yet and that is not temporary. If something is driving you nuts, with water gentle massage away any dead skin, while still leaving anything attached to continue healing.
Expect the color of the tattoo to get darker as the pigment oxidizes, be quite a bit softer after the skin sheds/peels, before revealing the final healed results which will show through at about the 3 week mark.
To preserve the integrity of your skin please avoid long term sun exposure and any water related activities other than showering for 3 weeks. Sun exposure to a fresh tattoo can cause scar tissue. After the 3 week healing period, prolong the life of your tattoo by using a high SPF daily or at the very least when you will be spending time in the sun.
After a minimum of 7 days you can resume the use of your other skin care/cosmetic routine, but please use your best discernment. If you are still peeling or healing post pone until you feel your skin is mostly back to normal.
If you have any questions, comments, concerns please feel free to email, I also love seeing healed images of your cosmetic tattoos out in the wild so feel free to send those cute selfies my way too!
